Now, we’re looking for a skilled Composite Technician – Painter to join our Manufacturing team and contribute to our mission of unlocking the potential of space.
About the Role:
As a Composite Technician – Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and coating internal and external surfaces of the Electron rocket. This includes working on pressurized tanks, structural assemblies, payload hardware, and heat shields. You’ll play a key role in ensuring components meet Rocket Lab’s high-quality standards while adhering to production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coat vehicle components to exact specifications.
- Apply paint and surface treatments to various composite structures.
- Work in confined spaces while using the necessary safety equipment.
- Accurately measure, mark, and trim components.
- Install vehicle decals and prepare tooling substrates.
- Maintain accurate records of raw materials and batch numbers for traceability.
- Support R&D tasks to improve production techniques and vehicle performance.
What We’re Looking For:
- Trade qualification in a relevant industry.
- 4+ years of experience in composite painting or a related field.
- Skilled in precision paint application and decal placement.
- Strong hand tool skills and ability to interpret assembly drawings.
- Experience in composite repair and surface preparation.
- Knowledge of health & safety procedures in manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and tablets.
