Are you a skilled Registered Line Mechanic looking for a rewarding career opportunity? Independent Line Services (ILS) is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team in Canterbury. As a locally owned company, we specialize in design, installation, maintenance, and upgrades of both overhead and underground HV and LV power lines.

About the Role:

This is your opportunity to work on vital infrastructure projects across Canterbury, the South Island, and even international locations in the Pacific. You will be part of a highly skilled team, working on the construction, maintenance, and enhancement of power lines. Occasional travel and on-call duties may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and upgrade high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) power lines.
  • Work with overhead and underground electrical network systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call support as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines efficiently.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered Line Mechanic with a National Certificate in Electrical Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) Level 4.
  • Valid registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
  • Current Class 1 driver’s license (Heavy Truck License preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong knowledge of NZ Health & Safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working at heights.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive problem solver.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
