The RMH Australia, Pathology Billing team sit within the wider Pathology department and liaise closely with Revenue Services. We are committed to ensuring we capture all available revenue streams that contribute to the overall operations of the organisation. This includes all aspects of billing including invoicing Medicare / Workcover / TAC / Veterans Affairs and private and commercial work and the follow up of rejections and collections activities. The Pathology billing team is collaborative where we each have an area of responsibility but share knowledge and skills. We engage both internally with the wider Pathology team and Revenue Services and externally with relevant stakeholders such as Medicare, Workcover agents and health funds.

Billing Officer Duties:

  • Assist with daily billing tasks such as data validation and correction, invoicing various revenue streams such as Medicare and health funds, attending to rejections and resubmission lists and general collection activities.
  • Report anomalies when found and take initiative to undertake initial investigation.
  • Take ownership of your work and manage your time efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with your team and communicate problems and issues if they arise, seeking guidance when required.

Eligibility Criteria For Billing Officer:

  • You have previous experience in a public hospital system with an understanding of the complexity of various forms of data and systems, as well as the importance of confidentiality.
  • You have recent experience in a revenue / finance / administration role with relevant experience using IPM & EPIC, and are comfortable handling large volumes of data.
  • You are a great communicator with a keen eye for detail, and enjoy analytical tasks.
  • You have good excel skills and are comfortable with filters, pivot tables and formulas.
